Bob McGuire

Bob McGuire was a star outfielder and third baseman who went on to a distinguished career as a high school coach and athletic director. Born in 1928, he graduated from Lincoln High School in 1945 and Washington State University in 1950. He spent time playing baseball for the Cammarano Brothers in 1945 and Mount Vernon Milkmaids in 1947. He was named a state and national semi-pro all-star in 1947.

At WSU, McGuire earned all-coast honors and served as captain of the 1950 team that finished the season as the NCAA national runner-up. He went on to play five years in the Western International League from 1950-54, playing with teams including the Victoria Athletics, Vancouver Capilanos, Tri-City Braves and Yakima Bears.

McGuire took over as football, basketball and baseball coach and athletic director at Pullman High School from 1951-52 and held the same roles at Yakima and Eisenhower High School from 1952-58. He served as football, baseball and golf coach and athletic director at Bothell High School from 1958-67.
